Rum Jerk Fest (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This notice explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information when you visit rumjerkfest.com or join our VIP mailing list.
1. Who is responsible for your data?
The data controller is [legal business or organiser name], trading as Rum Jerk Fest, at [business postal address]. Contact us at [privacy contact email].
2. Information we collect
When you join the VIP list, we collect your first name, last name and email address. We may also record your marketing choice, registration and confirmation timestamps, subscription status, and limited technical or security information such as IP address and browser details if our systems collect them. When you contact us, we process the information you provide. Our hosting provider may collect routine server logs.
3. Why we use your information and lawful bases
VIP updates and promotional emails: where you actively opt in, we use your details to send festival announcements, ticket-release information and related promotions. Our lawful basis is consent.
Subscription administration: we use your details to process your request, send a confirmation email, manage your subscription and maintain records of consent. Depending on the activity, our lawful basis is consent, legitimate interests in operating a secure and accountable service, or a legal obligation.
Security and website operation: we process necessary technical information to protect the website and prevent abuse, relying on legitimate interests or a legal obligation where applicable.
Responding to enquiries: we use messages you send us to reply, relying on legitimate interests or steps requested before entering a contract, as appropriate.
We will not add you to marketing emails simply because you visit the website. Marketing consent is optional and must not be pre-ticked.
4. Email confirmation and unsubscribe
We may ask you to confirm your email address before adding you to the active VIP list. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in our marketing emails or by contacting [privacy contact email]. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it.
5. Sharing your information
We may share information with service providers that help us run our WordPress website, hosting, security, backups and email delivery. They must only process data as instructed where acting as processors. We may also disclose information when legally required. [List actual providers and any independent third parties before publishing.] We do not sell your personal information.
6. International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. [Confirm whether transfers occur, the countries involved and the applicable UK adequacy regulations or safeguards before publication.]
7. How long we keep information
We keep active VIP subscription details while you remain subscribed and while they are needed for the stated purpose. If you unsubscribe, we remove your details from active marketing lists and may retain a minimal suppression or consent record to honour your request and demonstrate compliance. [Specify actual retention periods for pending sign-ups, inactive contacts, logs and backups.]
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. To make a request, contact [privacy contact email]. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We encourage you to contact us first.
9. Cookies
See our Cookie Policy for details of cookies and similar technologies.
10. Children
Our VIP list is not intentionally directed to children. [Confirm your intended audience and any age requirements before publication.] If you believe a child has supplied information improperly, contact us.
11. Security and changes
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, although no internet service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this notice and will show the revised date above.
